On December 19, the ceremony of lighting the main Christmas tree of the country took place on the territory of the capital's EXPO exhibition complex.
The height of the tree is 25 meters. It is decorated with hundreds of lanterns. To decorate the main attribute of the holiday, 750 meters of garlands, 360 lights and more than 900 Christmas balls were used.
Before the Christmas tree lighting ceremony, residents and guests of the capital were shown a fabulous ice show "Night of Miracles". The main Christmas tree of the country was lit by the children, Akim of the capital Zhenis Kassymbek and made a congratulatory speech. Ded Moroz, Snegurochka, Kazakh artists and many others performed on the stage.
“Dear residents and guests of our capital, on the eve of the New Year, I wish you a festive mood, joy, good health to your families! Let our capital develop and prosper! May the coming year be prosperous for the city! Today we start New Year's holidays. There will be many more such events. Skating rinks and slides are being installed in all districts of our city, where everyone can have a good time,” said Zhenis Kasymbek, mayor of Astana.
The event was held as part of the large-scale winter festival Astana Muz Fest. To date, skating rinks, slides, a New Year's fair and much more have been installed here. The existing winter town began its work.
For the first time in the capital's circus, the legendary Yuri Nikulin Circus performed in full. This is a unique program dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Yuri Nikulin with the participation of the best artists. On October 1 , as part of the International Day of the Elderly , circus Yu.Nikulina dedicated his program to viewers from nursing homes, orphanages and low-income families.
The tour of the famous circus collective, which has its own style in the world circus space, will be held as part of the Year of Children from October 1 to 23. Nikulin Circus will present to the audience amazing programs of virtuoso gymnasts, aerialists, jugglers, eccentric acrobats, equilibrists and popular clowns.

On the eve of the Independence Day celebrations, Nur-Sultan has hosted a solemn event dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the opening of the Capital’s Circus. The guests of the jubilee circus performance were able to watch the best performances of the team and were told about its main achievements.
The event was attended by the Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Aktoty Raiymkulova, the Deputy Akim of Nur-Sultan, Bakhtiyar Maken, as well as representatives of the relevant agency and heads of the municipal institutions of culture.
While congratulating the Capital’s Circus on the anniversary, Bakhtiyar Maken noted that this is a special day in the cultural life of the capital.
“The Head of State, Nazarbayev Nursultan Abishevich, noted that “there will be no modernization without preserving the national code, national culture”. The circus art is always aimed at exciting and surprising the viewers. This art embodies the flame of youth, the wisdom of centuries, beauty and bravery, courage and passion, as well as the harmony of artistic solutions and fantasy. In his speech, he stressed out that over the years of independence, the country has achieved great success, which should be multiplied. He awarded the letters of gratitude on behalf of the city akim to the distinguished artists and circus employees, many of whom have been working here almost from the day of the Capital’s Circus foundation.
The celebration was continued with bright and spectacular performances, where aerial artists, tamers with pigeons and dogs, ballet dancers and jugglers demonstrated their skills. Horse riding became a bright final chord of the show.
Traditionally, at the end of the event, flowers were brought to the arena on behalf of Nur-Sultan Akim.
It should be recalled that the construction of the Capital’s Circus was started in 2001 based on the instructions of the First President of the country, Nursultan Nazarbayev. And, in 2005, the first circus performance was held there, which was visited by Yelbasy.
Today the circus employs 296 people. All the genres of circus art are represented there: acrobatics, gymnastics, illusion, taming of carnivores, large and small animals, clownery, etc.
The circus has animals such as lions, horses, camels, ponies, Dalmatians. There are also birds: pigeons, pheasants, guinea fowls, Chinese ducks, Japanese chickens, peacocks.
The art team of the Capital’s Circus consists of the honored masters of circus art, laureates of international festivals and competitions.
A meeting on the topic of “Art Industries and the City Development” was held in the capital’s akimat under the chairmanship of the Acting Head of Nur-Sultan Office of Culture, Azamat Akhmedzhanov.
Projects for the development of tourism and increasing the tourist attractiveness of the capital, as well as the creation of comfortable areas of recreation and travel for residents and guests of the city, were discussed at the meeting.
Employees of akimat’s structural divisions, domestic figures of culture and representatives of the companies specialized in promoting the image and the entertainment industry were involved in the discussion.
The Head of the Urban Studies Center, Yelnar Bazyken, told about the capital for people living active lifestyles and adhering to the clean environment position to the attendees of “Nur-Sultan: The City of Comfort” presentation.
Thus, today they are working to create activities on the streets so that pedestrians could comfortably and easily travel around the city, providing high quality services, access to sports, culture and medicine within walking distance in the capital. In addition, in order to reduce environmental pollution, issues in respect of the buildings’ energy consumption reduction, decrease of emissions into the environment, landscaping and increase of recreational areas are being addressed.
Using the example of the world’s best practices and the most popular recreation areas in the megalopolises of different countries, the speaker showed how the streets and public spaces of Nur-Sultan can be improved to ensure the above objectives.
The Director of the Marketing Department of Astana Invest LLP, Beksultan Abdrakhmanov, spoke about the projects and plans for the development of tourism in the capital. He specified promotion of the city brand, event and medical tourism, infrastructure development among the main directions.
Thus, it is proposed to develop the so-called film-induced tourism in Nur-Sultan and attract film projects with support and coverage of the filming process, as well as assistance in coordinating and providing sites. As the world experience shows, such measures would allow attracting the interest of millions of tourists to the Kazakhstani capital. Other suggestions include holding various international business, sports and entertainment industry festivals.
At the meeting, it was proposed to establish an expert council on tourism, where promising projects for the development of the industry in Nur-Sultan could be discussed.
On December 14, at 7 PM, K. Kuanyshbayev State Academic Kazakh Music and Drama Theater will open a new XXX theater season.

Referring to the experience of the past years, they made specific proposals in respect of songs rotations on radio and television, since a well-thought-out system of patriotic songs promotion and popularization can facilitate the authors, performers and listeners to understand and evaluate the works. However, the songs must also meet the needs of the public.
The round table participants believe that if society cares about the cultural and moral education of children, adolescents and youth, then aesthetic and proper attitude to the past, present and future of the country is being formed in the younger generation by virtue of imperishable spiritual values.
- Today we’ve been discussing important issues related to the popularization of patriotic songs, as well as were talking about the professional level of the authors. If we recall the history, then when patriotic works were created by the elder generation of composers, such as Mukan Tolebayev, Yerkegali Rakhmadiyev, Shamshi Kaldayakov, the great importance was drawn to the lyrics. The contemporary Kazakhstani composers do not delve deeply into the meaning of lyrics, since the lyrics and music in a song should be organic. Patriotic music is being promoted today, but at the same time fades into the background when there is an entertaining content needed. Today, it is necessary to pay attention to the patriotic education of the younger generation, since if children will be raised in love for their homeland, then one can be calm about the future of our country, - said the Chairman of the Union of Composers of Kazakhstan, Serik ABDINUROV.
"Qazaqconcert" State Concert Organization has summarized the results of "Salem, Yelorda!" 1st National Arts Festival. The results were discussed at a round table meeting, which involved participation of 17 directors of the national and regional philharmonic societies. In the course of the event, topical issues in the field of musical art were also touched upon.
Director of the Department for Culture and Art of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kumis SEITOVA, made her speech at the round table meeting. She noted that such meetings are important for summarizing the results of joint cultural events and defining plans for the future. In her speech, she also spoke about the changes and amendments to the Law "On the Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan" and the development of the field of culture and arts in the regions of the country.
As it is known, "Salem, Yelorda!" Arts Festival was held under the initiative of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The organizer of the project is the National Center for Concert and Tour Activities under "Qazaqconcert" State Organization.
