Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Atomic Energy

Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Atomic Energy (hereinafter – the Agency) is a state body directly subordinate and accountable to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, responsible for the development and implementation of state policy and state regulation in the field of atomic energy use, subsoil use in terms of uranium exploration and production, the atomic industry, ensuring nuclear, radiation, and nuclear physical safety of the population, the physical protection of nuclear materials and nuclear installations, ensuring the non-proliferation regime of nuclear weapons within the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the establishment and functioning of the Semipalatinsk Nuclear Safety Zone (hereinafter – the regulated areas), as well as, within the limits provided by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, intersectoral coordination in the regulated areas.
