What to do if you are faced with corruption offenses?

In this article, we will talk about ways to contact the Anti-Corruption Service, as well as about the protection of persons who have reported corruption facts.

What should be done when faced with corruption offenses?

If you have encountered corruption or witnessed other illegal actions on the part of government officials, please contact the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan in one of the following ways:

  • Call the Anti-Corruption Service Call Center at 1424 (toll-free);
  • Send a written request to the Agency's postal addres (010000, Astana, Kabanbai Batyr str. 19, block "B");
  • Contact the Agency's territorial department at the place of stay (contacts are indicated on the official websites of the departments);
  • Send an appeal through the E-government portal eotinish.kz (requires an electronic digital signature – EDS);

Confidentiality is guaranteed. All reports will be reviewed and, if violations are detected, measures will be taken within the framework of the Law.

According to the Anti-Corruption Law, a person who has reported a corruption offense is protected by the state.

Encouragement of persons who reported the facts of a corruption offense

Remuneration may be paid for the information provided by you (paragraph 7 of Article 4 and paragraph 3 of Article 24 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Combating Corruption").

Award:

1) a report on the fact of a corruption offense;

2) information about the location of the wanted person who committed a corruption offense (the list can be viewed on the official website of the Anti-Corruption Service);

3) for other assistance that was subsequently important for the detection, suppression, disclosure and investigation of a corruption offense.

How much money can I get?

From 30 MCI  to 4000 MCI.

For corruption offences where the amount of the bribe or damage caused does not exceed 1,000 MCI (3 million 692 thousand tenge) - the amount of remuneration (depending on the severity of the crime) is from 30 to 100 MCI (from 110,760 tenge to 369,200 tenge), above the specified amount - a reward of 10% of the amount of the bribe or damage, but not more than 4 thousand MCI (14 million 768 thousand tenge).

For example, if a person reports a corruption crime in which the amount of the bribe or damage is 10,000,000 tenge, then after the completion of the investigation of the corruption crime and the entry into force of the guilty verdict of the court against the guilty person, the person who provided assistance in combating corruption will receive 1,000,000 tenge.

In order to receive remuneration, it is necessary:

1) apply to the body that has been assisted;

2) write an application for an incentive;

3) provide an identity document and bank details.
