NATIONAL CENSUS OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN 2021

Population census is a specially organized statistical survey that includes collection (house-to-house), processing and aggregation of acquired demographic, economic and social data characterizing respondents at a certain timepoint, development of a system of statistical indicators with associated analysis, evaluation and dissemination of aggregated (anonymized and consolidated) data about population.

According to the Conference of European Statisticians Recommendations for the 2020 Censuses of Population and Housing, population census is defined as ‘the operation that produces at regular intervals the official counting (or benchmark) of the population in the territory of a country and its smallest geographical sub-territories together with information on a selected number of demographic and social characteristics of the total population’.

The results of the population census will reflect economic, demographic and social changes that have occurred in the Republic of Kazakhstan in the past 10 years in demographic and socioeconomic development, such as changes in the structure of population base across the country, urban and rural population and by regions – by gender and age, marital status, ethnicity, citizenship, religion, education, language proficiency, number and size of households (and families), housing conditions and other qualitative and quantitative indicators.

The results of the census are needed to develop national programs to improve living conditions of households, family relations, living conditions of people with disabilities, housing conditions, and make decisions related to education, employment, birth rate and migration.https://sanaq.gov.kz/
