ECO DRUM, Team Game and 100 Trees: Volunteer Alley 2026 Opens in Petropavl

Environmental awareness and a responsible attitude towards the environment continue to develop in Kazakhstan. Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pays particular attention to environmental issues and engaging citizens in environmental initiatives. The nationwide Taza Qazaqstan initiative plays an important role in this effort, bringing people together around the shared goals of cleanliness and community improvement.

In Petropavl, these efforts were supported through the interactive team game “ECO DRUM: Spin and Act!”, a tree-planting campaign, and the opening of Volunteer Alley 2026. The event took place in the Podgora neighbourhood and brought together young people, volunteers, and representatives of public organizations.

The central event was the team game “ECO DRUM: Spin and Act!”, which gave participants an opportunity to test their environmental knowledge in an interactive format. By spinning the drum, they selected tasks and answered questions about waste sorting, recycling, and conserving water and electricity. The programme also included a quick-fire quiz, a “Fact or Myth” game, and activities in which participants had to explain environmental concepts without using words. This format made environmental discussions accessible and engaging, combining useful knowledge, teamwork, and live interaction.

The environmental programme continued with a collective tree-planting campaign. A total of 100 trees, including birches, apple trees, and hawthorns, were planted in the Podgora neighbourhood. The initiative aims to increase green spaces and further improve an area affected by flooding, while also honouring the people who came together to support their fellow residents during a difficult period.

The opening of Volunteer Alley 2026 also took place here. The alley has become a symbol of mutual assistance, solidarity, and gratitude to everyone who helped local residents and contributed to the restoration of the neighbourhood. The initiative holds particular significance during the International Year of Volunteers, highlighting the role of volunteerism in society.

The environmental campaign brought together several areas of activity: education, tree planting, and the promotion of volunteerism. The event demonstrated how environmental initiatives can go beyond one-off campaigns: participants not only discussed responsible attitudes towards nature but also made a practical contribution to improving the urban environment. Volunteer Alley 2026 will serve as a reminder that caring for one's community begins with personal initiative and collective action.
