State death registration in Kazakhstan is carried out within 1 business day from the date of death coming or body found through the Public Service Center (PSC), the Egov.kz portal, or the Civil Registry Office (CRO). A health death certificate and identity card of the deceased and the applicant shall be required. The service is free of charge and usually shall take up to 1-2 business days.

Required Documents for registration

To register a death, the following documents shall be provided:

  • Death Registration Application (filled in on site or online).
  • Health death certificate (original) or a final court decision establishing the fact of death.
  • Identity card or passport of the deceased (if available).

Actions to be taken

  1. Receiving a Death Certificate: health death certificate shall be issued at the morgue or clinic.
  2. Submitting an application:
    1. Offline: Visit a Public Service Center or Civil Registry Office with the documents.
    2. Online: Log in to the Egov.kz portal, find the "Notification of state death registration" service, fill in the deceased's IIN and sign with an electronic digital signature.
  3. Receiving a certificate: The Civil Registry Office shall issue a death certificate and a certificate for receiving a funeral benefit.

Important: The death registration in Kazakhstan is free of charge. After receiving notification of death, the relatives can apply for a one-time social payment for burial.
