Family support centers are organizations that implement state family policy measures to prevent domestic violence, as well as support families in difficult situations.

Centers are established or organized by decision of local executive bodies in districts and cities under local executive bodies for social protection and employment of the population.

What are the main tasks of the centers?

The tasks of the centers are:

  • implementation of public family policy measures, including measures to preserve marriage and family, and resolve family conflicts;
  • coordination of work to provide support to individuals (families) in difficult life situations by public bodies within their mandate, including through an integrated model;
  • assistance in providing social, legal and psychological support to individuals (families) who find themselves in difficult life situations;
  • provision of support to individuals with signs of domestic violence with the possibility of temporary accommodation for up to one month;
  • conducting informational and explanatory work on the directions and measures of public family policy;
  • interaction with local executive bodies, organizations, volunteers, and advisory bodies on issues of implementing public family policy, preventing domestic violence, etc.

  • Conducting seminars on strengthening families
  • Coordination of support for families in difficult situations.
  • Assessing their problems and creating an individualized assistance plan

  • Informing the population about family policy measures.
  • Interaction with public bodies and public structures.

  • The work of mobile groups to identify families in difficult life situations.

How do centers help the victims of domestic violence?

The centers help the victims of domestic violence by providing:

  • information and references;
  • assistance in employment and training;
  • legal, psychological and informational support;
  • assistance in obtaining medical care and social assistance;
  • consultations on public services and referrals to the appropriate authorities.

If it is required to identify individuals with signs of domestic violence, the center will, refer them to the appropriate organizations providing special social services to the victims of domestic violence within two (2) business days.

Temporary accommodation is provided free of charge at the expense of the budget based on the referral of district (city) authorized bodies of employment and social programs, as well as authorized bodies in the field of health care, internal affairs at the place of actual residence of the family, as well as upon personal application of the indivudual who directly applied to the center.

If parents apply along with their children, they are hosted together, and the guardianship authorities and the police are notified within 24 hours.
