In order for gas not to cause tragic consequences, it is necessary to take care of gas equipment and observe the rules for the safe use of gas in everyday life. Blue fuel is supplied to residential buildings in two ways: through gas pipelines or in gas cylinders of various capacities.
RULES FOR THE USE OF GAS CYLINDERS
Gas cylinders are an essential attribute of any owner of a cottage or house whose housing is located outside the limits of centralized gas supply. The use of gas cylinders in everyday life has both advantages and some disadvantages. For example, a balloon can be transported and rearranged, and a gas-filled balloon can be stored for several years. But at the same time, we should not forget that errors when connecting and operating gas cylinder equipment entail increased fire and explosion hazard. In case of a sudden temperature jump or fire, a metal cylinder can explode, causing significant damage to the house and the health of people caught in the explosion zone. Cylinders can leak gas, and propane-butane mixture at high concentrations can lead to poisoning and death of people. This is possible in the event of a leak, when the cylinder is located in a residential area. Danger of sudden overturning. Due to the pressure surge, a sudden flame release is possible, as a result of which the gas equipment may be damaged. When complying with the rules and regulations for the operation of gas cylinder equipment, the risks from their use are minimized. The equipment associated with gas consumption must be serviceable. It is necessary to carry out a technical inspection of the cylinders at least once every 5 years. When connecting the cylinder or replacing it, check the tightness of all connections with a soap solution. It is not allowed to use cylinders with traces of rust, with a faulty valve, in the absence of gas marking. It is necessary to store the balloon in a special ventilated cabinet that protects the balloon from direct sunlight and precipitation. The distance from the cabinet to the window or door should be at least 1 m. When placed indoors, the distance to the source with an open flame should be at least 5 m. Also, the distance to heat sources (radiators, electric heaters, etc.) should be at least 1 m. Large-capacity cylinders should be placed in a special cabinet on the outside of the housing. It is forbidden to store cylinders in the basement or bury them in the ground. If gas leaks from the cylinder, there may be cases of its ignition. The first step is to try to shut off the valve. In case of a small flame, you can try to extinguish it with a wet towel, then take the balloon outside and call the emergency service. But even in this case, it is necessary to comply with certain rules. Use only serviceable gas equipment. Keep an eye on the color of the flame, if it is orange, it means that the device is faulty, it is necessary to call gas workers. Do not leave unattended working gas stoves and water heaters, do not allow the flame to blow out or pour liquids. Do not allow small children, persons who do not control their actions to use gas equipment. Remember! In order for the gas to burn, a constant supply of air is needed. When you light a gas stove (water heater), the window should always be open! In case of sudden termination of the gas supply, immediately close the taps of the burners of gas appliances and inform the emergency gas service by phone: 104. The lack of traction in the smoke and ventilation ducts can lead to poisoning by gas combustion products.For the safe use of gas in everyday life, the most important role is played not only by knowledge of the rules, but also by the serviceability of the operated gas equipment. In order to avoid a tragic situation, it is necessary to carry out periodic maintenance of intra-apartment and intra-house gas equipment. To do this, each owner of gas appliances is obliged to conclude a maintenance contract with a specialized organization. If you smell gas in the room, immediately stop using gas appliances.
