In the boundless Kazakh steppe, on the chest of Saryark, on the bank of the Yerke Yesil, a miracle of the XXI century rises-the city of Astana turns 23 years old.
In 1994, in the Supreme Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev proposed to move the capital of Kazakhstan from Almaty to Akmola.
On October 20, 1997, he signed a decree on the transfer of the capital. On May 6, 1998, the city of Akmola was renamed Astana. In 1998, by the decision of UNESCO, the city of Nur-Sultan was recognized as a "city of peace" and awarded a medal. On June 10, 1998, the official presentation of the new capital took place.
By the law of June 24, 2008, July 6-the Day of the capital is defined as a state holiday. Since then, this day has been marked as the Birthday of Astana, and another day was marked by a significant event in our country.
And on March 23, 2019, by the Decree of the head of state Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the city of Astana was renamed Nur-Sultan.
That's how the main horde, which united for more than twenty years, today became the city of Nur-Sultan.
We are confident that our capital will have a high position, a solid foundation, and a bright future.
In the history of independence, we should know that the capital is the creation of Elbasy, which means that respect for Astana is a tribute to the leader of the nation.
Everyone knows that the main city of the country, which is considered a good moment for history, has managed to become a kind of city in the Eurasian space over the years.
Today, Bayterek, the Palace of Peace and Harmony, laid down in the historical idea of the Elbasy of those years, Khan Shatyr has become a symbol of our independence, recognized throughout the world.
The main goal of our Leader of the nation – the first president in moving the capital of the country - is the rapid prosperity of the country, unearthly prosperity, strengthening the unity of peoples, and ultimately-the desire for spiritual achievements, for the joint development of positive discoveries of humanity, for a peaceful and operational field of the future.
Dear fellow countrymen!
All this is due to the wise policy of the Elbasy, the support of the people, the joint work of the country, our common achievements and fruits.
International meetings in Astana and Kurultai of religious figures strengthened the political authority of the capital, extolled its general appearance. The echoes of the heroes sounding the alarm, like the flow of a mountain river, fashionably and significantly echo the life of today's multinational country. At the same time, we are a single country with a deep history, a real, joyful, clearly developing future!
I sincerely congratulate you and all those who are not indifferent on the
