A fire in a public place. Rules of conduct.
How to behave if a fire broke out in a public place? There are several rules, by following which, you can save your life.
First of all, it is necessary to report a fire to the fire service by calling 101 or by calling the unified emergency number 112112.
Before the arrival of professionals, try to do everything possible to save yourself and other people.
In any building with a mass stay of people there are several exits from different sides. Be sure to find out where they are in your office/public place. After entering any building, remember the way to the exit.
Any public place has an evacuation plan in case of fire. It shows all directions and ways of possible evacuation, the location of stairs, emergency exits and telephones.
Green lamps in the corridors and stairwells are emergency lighting lamps during evacuation.
If you smell smoke or hear shouts of "Fire!", stay calm.
Look around and assess the situation: when you see the fire alarm button, activate it.
In the dark and / or if the room is filled with smoke, move to the exit, holding on to the walls and handrails. Breathe through a damp handkerchief or sleeve.
In a multi–storey building, do not try to call an elevator - go down the stairs. Electricity will be turned off when extinguishing the fire and the elevators will stop.
Do not jump out of the window from a great height. If you can't get outside in the usual way, retreat to a room where there is less smoke. In a large room, there may be places remote from the source of the fire, where you can wait until help arrives.
If you leave the room, be sure to close the doors behind you (but not with a key!).
Through the window, attract attention to yourself: wave a scarf, clothes, shine a phone, a flashlight. Shout to passing passersby. Keep children close to you, be sure to cover the respiratory tract with a handkerchief.
All this will allow firefighters to detect you and save your life!
