When considering the causes of abnormal situations during the operation of electrical equipment, first of all, attention should be paid to such cases as: the appearance of sparks in electrical appliances and equipment; overheating of wires due to overload and short circuit; strong heating of devices due to the unsatisfactory condition of contacts at the connection points; the occurrence of an electric arc between contacts at the time of disconnection equipment under load; the formation of an electric arc during welding or soldering of metals; the occurrence of overheating of the windings of the transformer, which is an integral part of the electrical appliance (due to overload and inter-turn short circuits).
In order to protect yourself from the occurrence of fire-hazardous consequences during the operation of electrical appliances, and to prevent the occurrence of the situations listed above, it is necessary to strictly follow the instructions and rules of use, both by the devices themselves and the power grid.
Only the electrical equipment can remain in the switched-on state, which, according to its operational characteristics, should ensure human life around the clock (for example, operation of heating equipment, automatic fire extinguishing installations, etc.).
During the operation of electrical appliances, the rules that ensure the safety of people and homes should be observed.
These rules categorically prohibit the following actions: Use faulty electrical appliances.
Violate the manufacturer's requirements regarding the conditions of use of electrical installations and equipment.
Wrap lamps or electric lamps with paper, fabric materials for interior decoration, operate them without diffusers.
Use electrical appliances in work without fireproof stands. Leave home electrical appliances (TV, washing machine, oven, etc.) in the switched-on state without control.
Operate homemade electrical appliances, including homemade fuses in traffic jams (the best protection against overloads in networks is a plug machine).
Install a TV (meaning old designs) in a furniture wall that has a poorly ventilated niche.
Use the electrical network laid temporarily, without following the rules.
A particular danger comes from electric heaters, the operation of which is often uncontrolled. So, for example, irons can be used only if there is a thermostat and an on (off) indicator.
