How to avoid fire when cooking
Cooking at home is one of the daily chores in the life of Transbaikalians. But, despite its ordinariness, even such a habitual activity can lead to tragedy if elementary fire safety rules are not observed when cooking.
The cause of burning food is often ordinary carelessness. They put the pan on the stove and forget about it: they fall asleep from fatigue or in a state of alcoholic intoxication, and sometimes even leave the house. It happens that after putting food on the stove, a person can consciously go to the store to buy the missing product, in the hope that nothing will happen to the left pan during this time.
Unfortunately, this is not always the case. Gases are formed from burnt food, which can lead to poisoning by gorenje products. In addition, there is a possibility that the flame flaring up on the stove, spreading, will cause a serious fire, which can cause not only the loss of material values, but the death of people.
Basic rules of fire safety:
- do not leave the kitchen, do not leave the food being prepared unattended;
- do not turn on several burners at the same time at maximum power. This can lead to an overload of the power supply and a fire;
- if you plan to build a stove into a kitchen set, look at what materials it is made of. Plastic and decorative film in the decoration can ignite with prolonged thermal exposure;
- do not keep towels, paper, potholders and other flammable objects near the stove;
- do not leave wooden spoons in a heated frying pan;
- fill the pan with oil no more than a third. Oil is a flammable liquid capable of self–ignition at temperatures above 350 C. If this happens, cover the pan with a lid and turn off the stove. It is impossible to fill the burning oil with water - this will lead to increased gorenje;
- do not put wet foods in the pan, wipe them with a towel before frying – this will prevent oil splashing;
- constantly monitor the condition of the outlet and the wiring of the electric stove. At the slightest signs of a malfunction, make repairs in a certified workshop.
And remember - your vigilance is the key to your safety.
