Safetyrules on ice in the autumn-winter period
Every year in the autumn-winter period, people, including children, die on water bodies. Failure to comply with safety rules on water bodies in the autumn-winter period often leads to tragedy.
Autumn ice in the period from November to December, that is, before the onset of persistent frosts, is fragile. Bonded by the evening or night cold, it is still able to withstand a small load, but during the day, quickly heating up from the melt water seeping through it, it becomes porous and very weak, although it retains sufficient thickness.
Dear parents!
Pay attention to your children, tell them about the dangers of going out on fragile ice. Be interested in where your child spends his free time. Do not allow children to cross and stay on reservoirs in the autumn-winter period. Ice games are especially unacceptable!
Frivolous behavior of children, ignorance and neglect of elementary rules of safe behavior are the root cause of sad and tragic consequences.
To avoid danger, remember:
* autumn ice becomes solid only after continuous frosty days are established;
* ice with a thickness of at least 7 cm is considered safe for humans;
* it is necessary to cross reservoirs in places where special ice crossings are equipped. In places where there are no ice crossings, it is necessary to check the strength of the ice with a stick during the transition;
* ice is fragile in places of rapid flow, runoff waters and gushing springs, as well as in areas of aquatic vegetation, near trees, bushes;
* ice is extremely dangerous under snow and snowdrifts, as well as near the shore.
What to do if you fail and find yourself in cold water:
* do not panic, do not make sudden movements, breathe as deeply and slowly as possible;
* spread your arms out to the sides and try to cling to the edge of the ice, giving the body a horizontal position in the direction of the current;
* try to gently lay your chest on the edge of the ice and throw one and then the other legs on the ice;
* after getting out of the polynya, roll back, and then crawl in the direction from which you came: after all, the ice here has already been tested for strength.
In any case, in case of an emergency, it is urgently necessary to call 112 (all calls are free).
Adults, do not be indifferent, stop the attempts of children to get on the ice, carelessness can turn into a tragedy!
