Fire safety measures during the heating period

The heating season is a vulnerable target of household fires in residential buildings and apartments! The reasons are gross violations of fire safety rules during the operation of heating systems and installations, furnace heating, overload of the power grid, as well as the usual carelessness. To prevent such an unexpected disaster, the Department of Emergency Situations of the Almaty region once again recalls simple requirements, taking care of the fulfillment of which, you can avoid a fire.

If your abode is a private house, then before the start of the heating season, it is necessary to check the serviceability of the furnace and chimney, if necessary, repair them, be sure to clean the soot, cover up the cracks, whitewash the chimney in the attic (to immediately see the cracks that have appeared; a fire can occur as a result of exposure to flames, flue gases and sparks through cracks and leaks in the masonry of furnaces and smoke channels.).

During the heating season, soot cleaning should be repeated, preferably at least once every two months. The ash and slag that you will be raking out of the furnace must be spilled with water and removed to a safe place. Drying household items and other combustible materials over the stove is a bad idea. It is dangerous to use gasoline, kerosene and other flammable liquids to ignite the furnace!

At the same time, look at the interior of the apartment through the prism of fire safety. Upholstered furniture, cabinets, tables and chairs and similar combustible items should be located at a distance of at least one to one and a half meters from the walls of the furnace. It is stupid to place combustible substances and materials on the pre-heating sheet.

If you decide to "turn on the heat" and turn on an additional heater, we recommend using factory-made heaters only. There should also be no flammable objects near them. The heater must be installed on a stand made of non-flammable materials.

Fires often occur due to the use of homemade heaters. Especially if they have a large capacity, for which the power grid of the house is not designed. In addition, an overload of power grids with a large number of electrical appliances connected to the network often leads to a fire.

When the heater is turned on, do not use extension cords, and the cord and socket must be in good condition. Another recommendation: if you leave the room for a long time, turn off the heater. And be sure to check the children at home so that they stay away from hot heaters. This can lead to injury.

It is very dangerous to operate wires and cables with damaged or lost protective properties of insulation, as well as to use damaged sockets. Wrap electric lamps and lamps with paper, cloth and other combustible materials; it is unreasonable to use electric heaters without stands made of non-combustible materials and leave unattended electrical household appliances connected to the network.

Leaving the house? Turn off all electric heaters.

It is extremely risky to leave burning stoves unattended or entrust supervision of them to young children! Don't leave the children alone!

Remember that it is easier to prevent a fire than to extinguish it! Keep an eye on your heating stoves, use them correctly, and the fire will bring only joy to your home.

In case of fire, call 101 or 112 from landline and mobile phones.
