Flood period

In the pre-flood period, it is necessary to prepare for the rise of the water level and possible flooding of your plot or residential building, for which it is necessary:
- if possible, to insure movable and immovable property against flooding and damage due to flooding (flooding);
- if there is an opportunity, then before the flood to relocate children, the elderly, the sick to a safe place;
- remove building materials, fertilizers, fuels and lubricants, firewood and the like from the flooded territories;
- check and secure the existing watercraft so that they are not washed away by water, providing for the possibility of their use during the flood period.
In case of sudden and sharp rise of water, flooding of your house or apartment:
- if possible, take measures to protect the house (turn off the lights, gas, extinguish the fire in the oven, lock the windows and doors, seal the windows and doors of the first floors with boards or plywood);
- prepare for evacuation (take warm clothes, documents, food);
- take a safe place on a hill, stock up on any items that can help you stay afloat if you find yourself in the water (barrels, boards, logs, shields, car cameras, fence debris, plastic swirling bottles stuffed into a bag or shirt, and more);
- stay on the upper floors, roofs or other elevations until help arrives. To be noticed, tie a piece of red cloth on a pole, give light signals in the dark.
After the decline of the water:
- enter buildings with caution, first making sure that the structures are not damaged;
- first of all, ventilate the room by opening all windows and doors. In any case, do not light a fire, do not turn on electricity - gas leakage is possible;
- it is possible to use electricity, gas, water supply and sewerage only after specialists allow it;
- you can not use products that have fallen into the water;
- flooded wells must be drained and then pumped out until it becomes drinkable;
- only sanitary service workers should decide when it is possible to take drinking water and use soaked food supplies.
Safety rules for walking:
- do not go out on thin ice at the beginning of winter (ice breaks with a ringing crunch, cracks) and at the beginning of spring (ice breaks without cracking, water seeps quickly and fills the tracks);
- unbutton the belt of the backpack to quickly drop it in case of danger;
- follow the trampled tracks and paths;
- have a stick in your hands, feel the way in front of you;
- if the ice has started to crack, lie down carefully and crawl back in your tracks;
- when moving in a group, follow each other at a distance, let the most experienced one go ahead.
At the end of winter, coastal areas, areas near drain pipes, under bridges are dangerous.
