There are 105 pre-school organizations in Ust-Kamenogorsk. 89 of them are kindergartens: 37 public (1 regional), 52 private kindergartens and 16 mini-centers (1 regional).
As of January 2025, enrollment is 15,664 children (in kindergartens - 14,856, in mini-centers - 808).
The total coverage of children aged 2 to 6 years of preschool education is -92%, aged 3 to 6 years – 100%.
In order to eliminate the waiting list, a step-by-step plan has been developed, according to which 620 new places were opened in 2024 due to:
- reconstruction of 5 private kindergartens with 175 places:
- opening 4-x kindergartens with 205 places:
- return to the intended purpose of the building at 6/3 Kosmicheskaya St. for 240 places (opened in June 2024).
According to the step-by-step plan for 2025, it is planned to open 543 new locations due to:
- reconstruction of 2 kindergartens with 80 places:
LLP "Asyl bala" balabakshasi at 11 Bagaeva St. for 30 additional correctional places (February 2025);
LLP "Dizar plus" at 13 Ayazbayeva St. for 50 places (September 2025);
- opening of 2 kindergartens for 263 places:
- return to the intended purpose of the building at 14 Kazanskaya Street for 200 seats ("Aksankar Premium" LLP June 2025).
Thus, the introduction of new places in preschool organizations will eliminate the priority of children aged 2 to 3 years.
The Department of Education will continue its work on opening kindergartens with the involvement of investors to ensure 100% coverage of preschool education and training for children.
Total schools: 54. Of these: 49 are general education schools, 2 are evening schools in correctional institutions, 3 are private schools ("Nurorda", "Brig", "Istok"). The number of students is 47453.
According to the results of the 2nd quarter of the 2024-2025 academic year, the quality of education is 72%, which is 2% higher than in the same period of the previous academic year.
The number of graduates in 2025 is 1,870. In the 1st grade, the contingent consists of 5,168 children.
In the new academic year, School No. 50 in the Nurly Zhol district with 599 places has opened its doors.
There are 7 additional education organizations in the city, 16240 or 35% of children are developing in 860 clubs in 7 areas, which is 168 fewer students compared to last year (2023-2024 academic year - 16408), the decrease was affected by the reduction of the clubs of the Children's Art School "Zhuldyz" on the basis of schools due to an increase in the number of students and class occupancy. There are also 1,954 clubs and sports sections in 48 schools in the city with a student enrollment of 29,200 or 65%, which is 6% more than last year (2023-2024 academic year - 28,000).
Thus, the total enrollment of students in extracurricular activities in 2,814 clubs and sections in educational organizations is 45,440, or 98.1%.
There are 8,789 computer equipment units in 49 public schools in the city. 7,113 units of computer equipment are used in the educational process. Over the past 3 years, 3,553 computers have been purchased, of which 1,279 are stationary computers, 2,140 laptops, 134 tablets. 1,166 units of computer equipment require write–off. There are 6.37 students per computer. The share of secondary schools in the city using ICT in the educational process is 100%.
In 2024, 10 classrooms of a new modification (chemistry -1 room, physics – 3 rooms, biology - 2 rooms, robotics - 2 rooms, STEM – 2 rooms) were purchased for the amount of 123.1 million tenge.
As of January 01, 2025, 334 orphans and children left without parental care were registered in the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk. Of these, 191 are left without parental care, 135 are orphans who are under guardianship and 8 are in foster care.
In 2019, a project was launched to modernize and maintain school canteen catering facilities in Ust-Kamenogorsk as part of a public-private partnership program. Based on the results of the competitive procedures, 35 educational institutions of the city were upgraded in 2019. In 2020, according to the results of the competition, work continued on 6 schools (schools №№ 1, 2, 6, 18, 29, 32). According to the schools, the premises of the school canteens have been modernized.
Thus, in 2019-2020, 41 educational organizations in Ust-Kamenogorsk carried out a complete modernization of the school canteen facilities, which in turn brought investments in the amount of 913 million tenge. A new menu has also been developed as part of this program. Now children in school canteens receive healthy meals that include a fresh dish, a hot dish and a salad.
In the KSU "Akhmerovskaya Secondary School" of the Ust-Kamenogorsk City Education Department of the East Kazakhstan Region, the contract for catering for schoolchildren was terminated unilaterally by Profo LLP.
In the canteens of these schools, repairs have been carried out in dining halls, production halls, and warehouses. Repair and replacement of engineering networks of cold and hot water supply, sewerage, heating, electricity, ventilation systems, which made it possible to improve not only the sanitary and hygienic condition of canteens, but also to increase the assortment and improve the quality of food.
In the dining halls, the stands display the canteen's operating mode, meal schedule, administration duty schedule, and a book of complaints and suggestions. Health corners, posters "As bolsyn", "Bon appetit" are decorated.
