Causes of forest fires:
• Careless handling of fire
• Children's prank with fire
• Burning garbage near residential buildings and in areas adjacent to forests
• Sparks from vehicle exhaust pipes
• Lightning bolts
• Spontaneous combustion of oily cleaning cloths
• The effect of focusing the sun's rays with glass

Fires can cause fires in buildings in settlements, wooden bridges, power lines and communications on wooden poles, warehouses for oil products and other combustible materials, as well as damage to people and farm animals.

When in the forest, remember:
• DO NOT throw burning matches or cigarette butts
• DO NOT make fires or burn garbage during fire periods.
• DO NOT use wads made from smoldering materials when hunting.
• Be careful! Kindle a fire only on a site cleared to a layer of soil
• When leaving the resting place, extinguish the fire with water or throw it with earth until the burning and smoldering in the hearth has completely ceased
• DO NOT leave oiled or gasoline-soaked cleaning cloths in the forest.
• DO NOT leave glass containers or broken glass. By refracting the sun's rays, it can become a source of fire
• Extinguish a starting fire with water, branches of deciduous trees or throw earth

If you are near the fire in the forest
If you find yourself near the source of a fire in a forest and you do not have the opportunity to cope with its localization, prevention of the spread and extinguishment of the fire on your own, immediately warn all people nearby about the need to leave the danger zone. Organize their exit to the road or clearing, a wide clearing, to the bank of a river or reservoir, in a field. Get out of the danger zone quickly, perpendicular to the direction of fire. If it is impossible to escape from the fire, enter a body of water or cover yourself with wet clothing. Going out into an open space or a clearing, breathe the air near the ground - there it is less smoky, while covering your mouth and nose with a cotton-gauze bandage or rag.
