Regional development

One of the main tasks of the management of the economy and budget planning is to coordinate the activities of local executive bodies on the implementation of the regional policy of the region. This implies the analysis and development of proposals for the development of second-level cities, small and single-industry towns, the development of rural and border areas, as well as the development of local self-government.

In accordance with the State Program for the Development of Regions until 2025 (hereinafter referred to as the State Program), the following regional policy priorities are identified:

  1. The development of functional urban areas with centers in the cities of the "second level" (Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semey);
  2. Development of border small towns with adjacent territories (the cities of Shemonaikha, Zaysan), as well as the single-industry towns with a population of more than 50 thousand people outside the functional areas (Ridder);
  3. Development of reference and satellite rural settlements (the project “Auyl - El Besіgі” covering 116 reference and 223 satellite villages).

The goal of the State Program is to increase the economic competitiveness of the regions and improve the quality of life of the population through managed urbanization.
