Emergency Alert Signal: Attention Everyone!

In case of an emergency or if there’s a threat of one, sirens, horns and other audible signals are activated in public areas to draw citizens’ attention to important safety information.

In early October, Örken East Kazakhstan Regional Scientific and Methodological Center for Informatization and Education Development of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region held an interactive lesson in an interview format on the topic “Emergency Alert Signal: Attention Everyone!”. The speaker of the lesson was Almas A. Baizhuminov, a senior officer of Civil Defense Administration of Emergency Situations Department of East Kazakhstan region, Lieutenant Colonel.

During the lesson, the speaker provided a detailed explanation of what this emergency signal means, why it is activated, and what actions citizens should take once they hear it.

Almas A. Baizhuminov outlined the following key guidelines for students upon receiving the emergency alert signal:   

As soon as you hear the siren, immediately turn on the radio or TV at full volume and wait for verbal instructions, do not panic and carefully follow all the recommendations. Be sure to take essential documents and money with you;

If the signal source is outdoors, approach the nearest loudspeaker to listen to the announcement;

Keep your information devices turned on and ensure you have access to self-contained sources of supply. Do not pick up your children from school or kindergarten - they are safe there;

Inform your neighbors of the situation, help prevent panic, and avoid spreading rumors.
