There are 647 general education schools covering 193,355 school students in the region, including 45 primary, 112 basic, 490 secondary schools, with the Kazakh language of training - 337 (52%), with Russian language of training - 145 (22.4%), and 165 (25.5%) mixed schools.
In the 2019-2020 school year, 739 out of 746 applicants for the Altyn Belgi Badge confirmed their title, including 587 graduates with the official language of training and 152 graduates with the Russian language of training. The analysis showed that the number of graduates for the Altyn Belgi Badge is 83 schoolchildren that is more than the previous school year (656).
In 2020, there were 8204 graduates, of whom 4403 (53,7%) entered universities, including 2822 people (64,1% of the total number of students entered Kazakhstan universities) received grants from Kazakhstan universities, including 273 students of grades 11 received grants from the regional akim (in total 400 grants, including 127 grants allocated for college graduates), 3288 ones (40,1%) entered the colleges of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 394 (4,8%) entered foreign universities, 119 ones (1,4%) are employed and called to the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In 2020, the Uniform National Testing was held on 21-30 June, 2020 in 15 UNT locations.
In the 2019-2020 school year, 8204 learners graduated from the school, of which 6945 applied to participate in the UNT. 6634 applicants, or 81.0%, took part in the testing. This is 5.4% more than last year (2019 - 75.6%).
The largest percentage of participants of the UNT is in Zaisan (94.3%), Ayagoz (93.4%), Tarbagatai (90.1%), Kurchum (85.7%), Urjar (85.0%), Zharma districts (84 , 7%), Katon-Karagai (81.4%) and Semey (83.8). The lowest percentage of participats is in Altai district (58.7%) and Kurchatov town (60.6%).
Top score is 138 (Beisenova Erkezhan, Mixed Secondary School No. 5 of Ayagoz town, Ayagoz district, holder of the Altyn Belgi Badge).

1606 teachers passed the first stage of certification from June, 2 to September 1, 2020. Following the outcome of the second stage of certification, the qualification categories went to teacher-moderator - 573, teacher-expert - 513, teacher-researcher - 483, teacher-master - 2.
As of September, 5 staffing requirements are 82 teachers, there is the greatest demand for English teachers, primary school teachers, teachers of Russian language and Literature, Mathematics, Chemistry, preschool teachers. Most vacancies are available in Ust-Kamenogorsk city, Ulan district, Ayagoz district, Ridder town, Tarbagatai and Urjar districts.
Active work is underway to solve the problem with lack of teaching staff in the countryside within the framework of the program “With Diploma to Village”. So, in the region in 2017-2019, 678 (94.7%) young teachers were provided with social support to purchase housing and got one-time payments, including 91 teachers received interest-free loans to buy housing.
The region is successfully implementing the regional program “Bilikti maman” to train higher education specialists. The dynamics showed that: since 2017, educational grants have been allocated from the local budget to train in-demand personnel with higher education: in 2017 - 200 educational grants, in 2018 - 446, in 2019 - 400, in 2020 - 400.
3974 young specialists come to the schools of the region as part of implementing the program “With diploma to village!”. This year more than 400 young specialists have joined the ranks of teachers in the region.
Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region developed and introduced an automated program for education quality monitoring on the website bilimvko.gov.kz (link: http//apmko.kz/staff), there is a section on the need for teaching staff in educational institutions. In this section, any teacher can view vacancies and post their CV.
Education Administration, jointly with akimats of cities and districts, monitored the need for transportation, technical condition and useful life of school buses.
Funds have been allocated from the regional budget for 25 buses to ensure a safe daily transportation of children. Over the past three years, more than 45 buses were purchased at the expense of the regional budget.
In the 2019-2020 school year, the Interdepartmental Expert Group (hereinafter - IEG) inspected the arrangements for feeding in 400 educational institutions within the framework of the republican preventive activity “School canteen”.
Since January 2020, the IEG made about 438 visits to educational facilities in cities and districts of the region in order to monitor the quality of food and modernization made in school canteens. Competitive procedures were carried out to choose a Private Partner for the PPP project “Modernization and maintenance of catering unit in school canteen”. To repair and replace engineering networks of cold and hot water supply, sewerage, heating, power supply, ventilation systems. Walls and floors were retiled; ceilings were repaired in all canteens. New refrigeration and technological equipment, kitchen and dinner ware, cutting equipment were purchased. In canteens, new tables and chairs are purchased, the walls and food distribution lines are aesthetically decorated, new sinks for hand washing, towel dryers, soap dispensers, etc. are installed.
In canteens, the stands display the working hours of canteens, nutrition plan, the duty list of the administration, the book of complaints and suggestions.
Health corners, posters such as “As bolsyn|, “Bon appetite”, about the health benefits of honey, milk, there is also a list of unhealthy food.
All schools have plans to promote healthy lifestyles and healthy eating, out-of-class events, performances, trainings for schoolchildren, lectures for parents take place on the topic “Forming healthy eating habits through active information and educational work on healthy and balanced nutrition among children”.
As part of occupational guidance and cooperation, Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region holds targeted work with graduates of schools of the region, not only with universities of Kazakhstan, Russia, but also near and far abroad.
For example, in the 2019-2020 school year, the Branch of the Public Fund “The Nursultan Nazarbayev Educational Foundation” Arystan Specialized Lyceum held testing in the region to enter the lyceum for students of grades 8-9 of our region. The guys continue to study at this educational institution.
The advantage of the lyceum is that education and maintenance (accommodation, uniforms, meals, etc.) is carried out at the expense of the Nursultan Nazarbayev Foundation.
Working with complaints. In 2020, Preschool and General Secondary Education Department reviewed 251 complaints, of which 198 were received by the CALL-CENTER.
