Regional experience in organizing the activities of Parent Education and Support Centers

All education organizations of East Kazakhstan region established Parent Education and Support Centers, in accordance with the methodological Instructions on establishing Parent Education and Support Centers for children’s upbringing and development in secondary education organizations, approved by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Scientific-Methodological Council of the National Institute of Harmonious Human Development.

The goal of the Centers: strengthening the relationships of school parents in the process of education and upbringing of children as well as promoting a culture of a prosperous family.

Parent meetings were held in all education organizations, orders were issued in all schools to establish Parent Education and Support Centers, the composition of the working group was approved, and meetings of working groups were held. Classrooms for parents’ pedagogical support are open in all schools of the region. Based on the methodological recommendations, class schedules for parents are developed and approved, teachers from among experienced teachers with appropriate qualifications were selected.

Advanced training courses were organized by the National Institute for Harmonious Human Development in order to prepare teachers working in Parent Education and Support Centers. 342 teachers (deputy headmasters, social educators, psychologists and classroom teachers) completed these courses in the region.

Starting from September 15, 2023, district and city education departments of the region have held informational seminars on the following topics: “On the activities of Parent Education and Support Centers”, “Danalyk Mektebi Club”. All education organizations of the region held school–wide orientation meetings with parents related to the organization of the activities of Parent Education and Support Centers, classes were held on the topic “Project life of parents - happy person” for grades 0, 1-4, “New learning environment: how children can adapt” for grades 5-9, “Personality as a result of self-development based on moral values” for grades 10-11, etc.

On October 10, 2023, Örken East Kazakhstan Regional Scientific and Methodological Center for Informatization and Education Development of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region, jointly with a leading expert of the National Institute for Harmonious Human Development E. M. Ayazbayev, held a seminar-meeting for methodologists of district (city) education departments on further implementation of the work of Parent Education and Support Centers in schools.   

On November 3, 2023, Örken Regional Scientific and Methodological Center for Informatization and Education Development of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region held an online workshop “The role of Danalyk Mektebi in student upbringing. The event was attended by 100 teachers (deputy headmasters for educational work, classroom teachers, teachers-organizers, senior mentors).

On December 5, 2023, in order to provide methodological assistance in the implementation of the Single Education Program and the work of Parent Education and Support Centers, a workshop on “Raising a child is everyone's matter” was held at O. Bokey Lyceum No. 44. 

As part of the action plan of Parent Education and Support Centers, since 2023, seminars on various topics have been held in all schools: “Parental Support: Happy Child - Bright Future”, “Family values”, “Ways to motivate children for successful learning”, “Causes of whims and perversity of children”, “Prevention of schoolchildren’s psycho-emotional stress”, competitions like “Most reading family”, round tables “Learning to be a good parent”, fathers’ forum on the topic “Fatherly education – a great school”, parent educational readings “Every child is a bright star”, sports competitions, fairs, charity events, open days, trainings. Teachers of the region conduct online consultations for parents (to fill gaps in knowledge), individual conversations on the topics: “How to address academic failure”, “How to help a child learn?”, “Developing memory and attention in younger schoolchildren”, “How to identify and develop children's abilities?”.

During this period, 17201 classes were held in Parent Education and Support Centers in different age groups, attended by 58624 parents.

The Danalyk Mektebi Club has been established under at Parent Education and Support Centers in all schools. The work of the Danalyk Mektebi Club takes into account specific needs of parents and includes the exchange of positive experiences among parents regarding the use of national values and pedagogical traditions. There are 4 sections in the Danalyk Mektebi Club: “Ata osieti”, “Azhe danalygy”, “Aga kamkorlygy”, “Zhenge kenesi”.

As part of the Danalyk Mektebi Club’s activities, training seminars are held with parents on the following topics: “The family role in children’s upbringing”, “Agasy bardyn zhagasy bar”, “School of grandmothers – the source of national education”, “Ata korgen ok zhonar”, “Kyz gumyrdyn kupiyalary”, etc. open days for parents, parent week “Mom, dad and I - a sports family!” and fun starts. 11238 classes were held in the Danalyk Mektebi Club, involving 19856 parents.

All the conducted events are posted on social networks with the hashtags #parenteducationandsupportcenters and the logo of the PESCs.
