Development of small and medium-sized businesses in the food industr

The processing of agricultural raw materials, as well as the production of high-quality, affordable and competitive food products are currently one of the priorities of the agro-industrial complex.
According to statistics, 135 enterprises in the region are engaged in food production and processing of agricultural products, including 2 large, 13 medium and 120 small enterprises.
The food and processing industry of the East Kazakhstan region covers 12 industries, including the production of sausage products, milk processing, production of vegetable oil and fats, production of bakery and flour products, production of flour milling products, fish processing, processing and canning of fruits and vegetables, production of ready-made animal feed and production of other products.
The installed production facilities allow complex and deep processing of 33 tons of meat, 190 tons of milk, 540 tons of cereals, 2562 tons of oilseeds per day and produce high-quality finished products for the domestic market and export.
In 2022, processing enterprises of the region produced 315 thousand tons of vegetable oil, 19 thousand tons of meat products, 25 thousand tons of poultry meat, 47 thousand tons of dairy products, 82 thousand tons of flour, 17 thousand tons of cereals, 11 thousand tons of fish products, 19 thousand tons of bread, 96 thousand tons of ready-made animal feed/x animals and 11 thousand liters of drinks.
According to statistical data by enterprises of the processing industry, by the end of 2022, food production amounted to 229.5 billion tenge, with an increase of 145.8% to the level of 2021. The IFO was - 126%, due to an increase in the production of sunflower oil by 1.7 times
(from 181 to 315 thousand tons).
The main share in the volume of processed agricultural products is occupied by the processing of oilseeds (57%), meat processing (15%), milk processing (10.2%), grain processing (7%), the production of bakery products (4%), the production of other products is (5.5%).
The largest volume of food production accounts for the production of vegetable and animal oils and fats – 130,9 billion tenge, processing and canning of meat and meat production 33,9 billion tenge, dairy production - 23,6 billion tenge, the production of flour and cereal products – 16,1 billion tenge.
Processing of oilseeds is one of the main directions of the fat-and-oil industry, whose raw materials capacity is 935 thousand tons per year, of which 712 thousand tons are accounted for by large enterprises.
The largest enterprises here are JSC "May", LLP "Oskemen May", LLP "Ust-Kamenogorsk Creamery", LLP "Vostokselkhozprodukt", which are equipped with high-tech equipment that allows to produce high-quality oil in accordance with international standards.
In addition to these enterprises, a large investment project of Altyn Shyghys LLP in Glubokovsky district with a raw material capacity of 300 thousand tons per year was implemented in the oilseed processing industry in 2022 in the region. The cost of this project is 28.8 billion tenge.
There are also small meat processing enterprises in the region, for example, Vostoktechnosnab, which has been producing sausages and delicacies since 2016. More than 20 people are involved in the production. The production capacity is 1.5-2 tons of finished products per day. The company produces more than 40 items including sausages, meat delicacies and meat semi-finished products. All products are manufactured using European equipment from high-quality certified raw materials. Austrian spices of the brand "Almi" are used in the production.
