Kazakhstan celebrates Labor Day annually on the last Sunday of September. This year, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with the Astana City Akimat, is planning a forum as part of the celebration.
Labor Day aims to highlight the importance of creative work, professionalism, and responsibility, and to recognize the contribution of workers in various industries to the country's development.
In 2025, the Year of Blue-Collar Professions, declared by the Head of State, gave further impetus to this work. The focus was on enhancing the prestige of blue-collar professions, promoting labor values, developing professional competencies, and recognizing the achievements of blue-collar workers.
In 2026, efforts to enhance the status of blue-collar workers will continue. One of the key events during the Labor Day celebrations will be a major forum. The event will include a gala awards ceremony for the winners of the national "Yenbek Zholy" competition, as well as the presentation of state awards to representatives of blue-collar professions.
The national "Yenbek Zholy" competition is held annually. It aims to promote labor values, maintain intergenerational continuity, and enhance the prestige of blue-collar jobs.
The competition is held in three categories:
"Best Labor Dynasty" – for families whose members have worked at the same organization for several generations. To participate in the competition, a labor dynasty must span at least three generations and have a combined work experience of at least 20 years at the enterprise.
"Best Mentor of Young Workers" – for experienced professionals who impart professional knowledge and practical skills to young workers. Mentors must have at least 20 years of work experience at the time of application.
"Best Young Production Worker" – for young professionals who demonstrate professionalism, initiative, and high performance. Participants must have no more than five years of work experience.
Following the national stage, winners in each category will be determined. Their stories will exemplify professional excellence, labor continuity, and a responsible approach to their work.
"Enbek Zholy" is the story of people who, through their daily work, shape the present and future of the country. The forum will serve as a platform for recognizing their achievements and promoting the values of labor among the younger generation.
