536 TEAMS APPLIED FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE "SHYMKENT YOUTH LEAGUE" PROJECT IN 4 SPORTS

Today, a great deal of attention is paid to mass sports in the country. In his message to the people of Kazakhstan last year, the Head of State said: "Special attention is needed to strengthen the health of the nation. It is important to develop mass sports among all age groups of the population. Sports infrastructure must be made as accessible as possible to children. The development of mass physical culture should become a pyramid, at the top of which there will be new champions, and at its base we will get healthy, active youth and, ultimately, a strong nation."
So, as part of the execution of the President's instructions, the Shymkent city mayor's office has started implementing the project "Shymkent Youth League" for mass sports among schoolchildren since March. The goal is to develop students' will and perseverance through sports and to form teams for the championships of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The project is organized in two stages. At the first stage, students of general education institutions will compete, and at the second stage - athletes of higher and secondary specialized educational institutions.
Applications for participation in this project in 4 sports were submitted by 536 teams (8,569 young people) from 140 schools in Shymkent city. They compete in football (among boys), basketball (among boys), volleyball (among girls) and chess (among boys, girls).
To date, there are 8 "basketball" teams (schools №23, 33, 42, 1, 29, 45, 8 and No. 2 "Daryn"), 4 teams in "volleyball" (schools No. 89, 131, 68, 113) passed to the final.
