In Shymkent, the number of systematically engaged in physical culture and sports amounted to more than 294.4 thousand people, which reached 28.6% of the total population of the city. It is planned to increase it to 30% in 2020.
There are 31 state-owned sports facilities in the city. These institutions employ 1,152 trainers with 18,796 athletes.

4 sports facilities work through a public-private partnership mechanism in order to attract the population to physical education, expand sports infrastructure and develop mass sports in the city.

There are 856 registered sports facilities in the city.

- 32 sports arenas (athletics-3, football-1, horse riding-1);
- 12 sports complexes;
- 6 sports equipment complexes;
- 8 swimming pools;
- 5 shooting galleries;
- 70 equipped gyms;
- 255 gyms;

- rowing base;

- racetrack.
