Agriculture is a production unit aimed at providing the population with food obtaining raw materials for a number of industries.

Volume of gross agricultural output for the 12 months of 2019 in the city has amounted to 29,455. 7 million tenge. (crop production – 9228.3 million tenge., livestock – 19,419. 6 million tenge.), compared to the same period last year, has increased by 3,767.8 million tenge.

Volume index was 106.3%, (Annual plan is 102.0%).

Attracted investments volume in fixed capital of agriculture was 1 111.2 million tenge., and has increased by 937.5 million tenge. or 6.2 times as compared with a similar period of the previous year. Volume of investments in fixed capital in food production amounted to 3 089,2 mln tenge, and has increased by 651.7 million tenge. or 23.6% as compared with a similar period of the previous year. 

Plant growing

This year, agricultural crops increased by 1.0 thousand hectares compared to last year and are located on an area of 26.8 thousand hectares (2018-25.8 thousand hectares), 78.7 thousand tons of products were gathered. Including:

- Grain crops - 10,850,8 ha. Harvested -16,204 tons., yield -14.9 с / ha.;

- Oilseeds - 3,633. 0 ha. Harvested -2,532. 0 tons. (sunflower -6.8 c / ha, safflower-7.0 с/ ha).;

- Vegetables and melons-3,664. 4 ha. Harvested -38,476. 2 tons, yield -105 c/ha.;

- Potatoes-649.9 ha. Harvested -7 864.0 tons, yield-121 c/ha.;

- Crop seed-7 952.7 ha. Harvested -13 391.1 tons, yield -16.8 c/ha.

Fuel and lubricants

1,000 tons of diesel fuel have been provided for autumn field and harvesting operations. At present according to the requests of agricultural producers, 330 tons of diesel fuel have been provided. To date, farms in the city area have been provided with fuel in full.

REFERENCE: operator of fuel and lubricants is "Munai investment group" LLP. The cost for 1 liter is 175 tenge. Fuel and lubricants are provided on time.

Digitalization

To date, 18,186,7 ha of arable land, 118.9 ha of pasture, and 91.5 ha of perennial plantings have been digitized in the city. Work on digitalization is underway.

Application of advanced technologies

This year, a greenhouse with a total area of 13.9 hectares was built, the total area of greenhouses in the city is 183.5 hectares.

Export and import

The volume of agricultural exports for the 12 months of this year amounted to 129.6 million US dollars. In comparison with the previous year, it has increased 3.5 times or 92.5 million US dollars

In 2019, 3,118 units of cattle, 28,298 units of small cattle, 17 units of horses, 4,576 units of poultry, 234.9 tons of lamb, 126.0 tons of canned fish, 31,238 tons of fodder, 614.5 tons of wool were exported, 456,420 pieces of hatching eggs, 311.9 tons of sausage products, 982.2 tons of fish, 419.4 tons of dairy products, 244.1 tons of poultry feed were imported.

Besides, 36,692 tons of onions of the main origin, 11,559 tons of tomatoes, 25,230 tons of cabbage, 827.5 tons of radish, 2,048.2 tons of carrots, 1,257. 2 tons of apples, 293,534 tons of flour, 163,877 tons of potatoes, 1,713 tons of pasta, 3,492 tons of safflower seeds, etc. were exported, 1,551. 2 tons of bananas, 80.0 tons of apples were imported.

Water management

82.1 km of canals were mechanically cleaned according to the plan for 2019.

Also, the design and estimate documentation (DED) for the overhaul of 5 canals has been developed and is aimed at passing the state expertise. These canals are "Kok", "Shymkent", "Chumchak", "Zhana Sairam-su right Bank" and "Say below the waterfall".

Besides, 150 meters of the Novaya Pravoberzhnaya Sairamsu canal were concreted.

6 pieces of concrete flumes were filled in and rehabilitated on the Kok canal.

As a result of the work carried out on the canals, the supply of waste water increased by 80-85%.
