The number of educational organizations in Shymkent city is 734, the number of students and pupils in them is 317,278. Including:

1) schools-169, number of students-214,236 (state-147, pupils-205,530, private-22, pupils-8,706);

2) kindergartens – 521, number of children-75 386 (state-82, children-19 375, private - 439, children-45 188);

3) colleges-30, number of students-27,217 (state – 11, students-13,831, private-19, students-13,386);

4) institutions of additional education-9, number of children-20,061;

5) specialized institutions – 5, the number of children-439 (PMPK, PPTC, Rehabilitation center);

At present, 131 schools within jurisdiction of the Directorate are located in standard buildings, 6 schools are located in suit buildings.

Preschool education. 521 pre – school institutions of Shymkent city has 75,386 children (including 82 state – 19,375, 415 private – 41,940, pre-school group-10,823).

Currently, 67,989 children aged 3 to 6 years or 99.1% who need a kindergarten in the city are provided with pre-school education.

Technical and professional education. 27,217 students study in 30 colleges of Shymkent city. Of these, 11 public colleges have 13,831 students, and 19 private colleges have 13,386 students.

Routine Maintenance. 128,965,0 thousand tenge was allocated in 2019 for the current 120 schools. According to the agreement, the current repair work was completed on August 20, 2019.

Overhaul. In 2019, the State Expertise Reviews were received for 6 schools (No. 4,12,18,36,122,120) and 2 kindergartens (No. 28,49), which need major repairs. Repairs are planned for 2020.

Using of digital educational resources. For the use of digital educational resources, 130 city schools have been connected to the BilimLand educational platform online since the 2017-2018 academic year. To date, 6,481 accounts have been issued to schools to connect to digital educational resources. Through the BilimLand educational platform, schools use digital educational resources for primary school courses, Humanities courses, and science -mathematics subjects.

Besides, a virtual complex "iTest" for the UNT preparation program, animation lessons and game tasks "iMektep" (audio – visual works-animated film), "Twig" films based on the school curriculum, multimedia materials and a collection of tasks are used.
