The Department of Culture, Language Development and Archives of the city of Shymkent has 21 institutions. 6 theaters: Shymkent city "Academic Kazakh Drama Theater named after Zh. Shanina", "Shymkent City Russian Drama Theater", "Shymkent city Uzbek Drama Theater", "Shymkent City Opera and Ballet Theater", "Shymkent City Puppet and Youth Theater", "Shymkent City Theater of Humor and Satire" also 6 libraries: the city scientific and universal library "Al-Farabi"," centralized public library system of Shymkent city" (23 branches)," centralized children's library system of Shymkent city" (14 branches)," Shymkent City Youth Library, "Shymkent City Special Library for blind and visually impaired citizens","Pushkin City Library". It works with target indicators in 13 areas (3 - the number of speakers of three languages; 2 - in the archival industry; 1 - the name of the street and 7 - the main indicators of the institution).
In particular, for 5 months of the current year:
- Number of readers visiting the library: 131 thousand 958 people
- Number of theater visitors: 68 thousand 711 people
- Museum attendance: 6 thousand 398 people
- The number of visitors to the concert organization: 66 thousand 630 people
- Circus attendance: 23 thousand 780 people
- The number of visitors to the zoo: 76 thousand 625 people
- The number of visitors to the complex of the city of Shym was: 16 thousand 093 people .
In the concert organization "Shymkent City House of Culture" for 5 months of 2022, together with the Department of Culture, Language Development and archives of the city of Shymkent, 17 cultural, official mass events were organized, which amounted to 66 thousand 630 people.
105 mass cultural events are organized in the Turkistan Sarayy hall and 5 clubs at the House of Culture, in 5 houses of culture,
It covered 16 thousand 504 viewers.
426 repertory performances were held in 6 professional theaters, 68 thousand 711 spectators were covered (for a fee - 37414, free of charge - 31097).
52 performances were held in the Shymkent circus, - 1 tournament, 2 events (free of charge) with coverage of 23 thousand 780 spectators (for a fee – 21530, free of charge - 2250).
In " the center of Customs and Traditions "conducted 1384 excursions, organized 7 events, attendance-5594 (of which paid-4538, free-1056), and the ethnoaul" Shimqala " held 8 events, covered 6980 visitors. The total number of visitors is 12574 people.
The number of animals in the Shymkent State Zoological Park is 2 thousand 590 heads, animal species-279, attendance is 76 thousand 625 people.
In 5 library institutions (37 branches).533 educational, thematic, literary events were held in the library. The number of visitors was 733 thousand 544 people. The number of readers is 131 thousand 958 people, the total book fund is 1 million 684 thousand 817 copies, the book output is 1 million. It is 905 thousand 016 pieces.
10 libraries are planned to be upgraded this year. In the special library for blind and visually impaired citizens there is a "Baby Books" hall for games and additional education of children, corners for relaxation, for listening to music, as well as a "stage" located in the courtyard of a cozy library in the summer, Summer bookshelves, swings for adults and children, modern capsules and a "playground".
The Shymkent city Museum of victims of political repression held 10 events, the number of lectures delivered-37, the number of escourses-7, field exhibitions-35, the total number of exhibits-16 thousand 378, the number of newly included exhibits-31. The number of visitors to the museum is 6 thousand 398 people (of which 5618 are paid, 780 are free).
The number of newly included exhibits of the historical and cultural complex "Chimkala" – 65, events-10, excursions-1514, lectures - 18, visits - 16 thousand 093 (paid - 3479, free-12 614) people (including citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan-15 398), foreign citizens - 695).
The total number of events held: 4167, visits: 920 thousand 454.
