The territory of the city of Shymkent is 116,280 ha, the population of the city is 1009,2 thousand people, the city is located at the junction of Kazakhstan with Central Asia, at the intersection of transport routes from Europe to Southeast Asia, to the countries of the Near and Far East. The city has a rich demographic potential, weather conditions are favorable for the life of the population, occupies 1% of the territory of the region.
Today, Shymkent is one of the industrial, commercial and cultural centers of Kazakhstan, with a developed infrastructure. Shymkent is one of the three urban cities of the Republic.
