As part of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan’s project “Peace and Harmony,” public receptions aimed at preventing social tensions were held in the city of Shymkent.
On April 22, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, a public reception was organized by the working group “Interfaith Harmony” at School No. 104, located in the Bazarқақпа neighborhood (Enbekshinsky district), on the initiative of the Shymkent Department for Religious Affairs.
Residents of Bazarқақпа and Sayram received comprehensive and detailed responses to their concerns. Attendees expressed satisfaction with the quality of the responses and thanked the organizers, wishing them continued success in their work.
The meeting was conducted by members of the working group established to promote interethnic and interfaith harmony and to prevent ethno-social conflicts. The group included: K. Shuken, Leading Specialist of the Department for Religious Affairs’ Information and Awareness Coordination Division; Y. Bekbosynov, Head of the Department of International Relations and International Law at the Faculty of Law, M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University; A. Uralbayev, Theologian and Director of the Public Institution “Center for the Study of Religious Issues”; and five district chief imams – Y. Yesengeldiyev, Y. Oryn, B. Zhamish, Y. Kalshabekov, and Y. Bekbauov.
As of today, the religious situation in the local communities remains stable.
Today, students of the College of Innovation and Technology, coaches of sports school No. 10 and students of school No. 35 named after M. Mametov conducted information and explanatory work on the topics of the education system in a secular society, raising a family and a generation.
At the meeting, the danger of alien religious movements was voiced, the importance of obtaining religious information only from reliable sources, and the need to contact specialists in case of doubt was warned. The legislative basis for the requirements of a uniform form in educational organizations and its role in maintaining general order were also explained.
Each question was answered professionally and clearly. Knowledge is the greatest power, and correct information is a prerequisite for not getting lost!
