Countering extremism

The Department for Countering Extremism is a structural subdivision of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which organizes and implements the Ministry's functions in the field of countering extremism and terrorism within its competence.

Functions:

• Organization of counteraction to extremism and terrorism
• Monitoring and assessment of the situation in the sphere of religious relations and religious activities, as well as countering extremism and terrorism, within the competence.
• Organization of control over the state of anti-terrorist security of facilities vulnerable to terrorism.
• Organization of prevention of offenses in the sphere of religious activity and religious relations.
• Ensuring and improving the organizational activities of counter-extremism units.
• Protection of the rights and legitimate interests of citizens, organizations and the State from criminal encroachments.
• International cooperation on issues within the competence of the Department for Countering Extremism.
