The sides exchanged views on a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation. In particular, they touched upon topical issues of international cooperation in providing mutual legal assistance in the fight against drug trafficking.

As noted by U. Baizhanov, the problem of combating drug crime sounds very topical for Kazakhstan, which is primarily due to the geographical location of the country. That is why the issues of increasing the effectiveness of the fight against drug trafficking, the use of advanced methods and practical tools for detecting and preventing drug crimes have become particularly relevant today, he stressed.

As told to M. Karpenkov, Agency on fight against a drug trafficking of the USA (DEA) has many years of practical experience. Its main task is to identify and investigate crimes related to illicit drug trafficking, as well as anti-drug propaganda.

Much attention is paid to the DEA's fight against the production and import of psychotropic cannabis drugs. Created a special division for the drugs cannabis, which deals with the elimination of planting plants in the country. The division has three major operations to eradicate cannabis crops in Mexico and cut off the supply of marijuana from Colombia.

In this regard, the rector expressed interest in more detailed acquaintance with the best practices of American colleagues who have extensive experience in this field. The study of the latest achievements in the fight against drugs will help to develop the most effective response measures, increase the effectiveness of countering drug crime, he said.

In the context of strategic tasks to ensure international and regional security, The regional hub for countering global threats created on the basis of the Academy should become an effective tool.

The participants of the meeting expressed their readiness to further develop bilateral relations in all areas of legal cooperation in the scientific and educational sphere.
