Protection of human rights to a fair trial, humane treatment and respect for dignity in the execution of criminal penalties and the application of other measures of State coercion;
promoting the formation of uniform judicial practice and a balanced criminal policy with priority for the correction and re-socialization of convicted persons;
identification and elimination of violations of the law, the causes and conditions that contribute to them, as well as their consequences;
supervision of the legality of judicial acts that have entered into legal force in criminal cases;
supervision of the legality of the execution of criminal penalties and the detention of persons in pre-trial detention centers and guardhouses;
analysis of judicial practice in criminal cases and the state of legality in the field of execution of criminal penalties;
analysis and coordination of the work of lower-level prosecutor's offices in support of public prosecution and participation in the courts of appeal in criminal cases;
participation in the development of draft laws and other legal acts in the field of criminal policy, criminal proceedings and the execution of criminal penalties;
providing methodological and practical assistance to lower-level prosecutor's offices, developing and sending methodological recommendations to the field, participating in scientific and educational activities.
