In most cases, the cause of destruction, losses, injuries and deaths, negligence and non-compliance with basic fire safety rules in handling gas. Basically, the leakage of blue fuel occurs due to improper installation. Moreover, this defect is not felt immediately. It happens that during the day the owners do not feel anything, and during the night a critical mass accumulates in the apartment, which can explode, it is enough for someone to use a match or another source of open fire.

If you smell gas in the room, immediately stop the fuel supply to the stove. At the same time, do not smoke, do not use matches, do not turn on lights and other electrical appliances, and even better, de-energize the whole house by disconnecting the power supply on the switchboard or meter.

The population using gas at home, in order to avoid the occurrence of a fire and an explosive situation, must comply with the rules that will help prevent the occurrence of an emergency:

- monitor the normal operation of gas appliances, chimneys and ventilation, check the draft before switching on and during operation of gas appliances with the removal of combustion products into the chimney;

- at the end of using the gas, close the taps on the gas appliances and in front of it, and when placing the cylinders inside the kitchens, additionally close the valves at the cylinders;

- in case of malfunction of the gas equipment, call the employees of the gas enterprise;

- before entering basements and cellars, before turning on the light and lighting the fire, make sure there is no smell of gas;

- in case of sudden termination of the gas supply, immediately close the taps of the burners of gas appliances;

- to inspect and repair gas pipelines and gas equipment, allow gas industry workers to enter the house upon presentation of their service certificates.

Individual balloon installations should be provided both outside and inside buildings. It is allowed to place balloons in apartments of a residential building (no more than one balloon in an apartment) having no more than two floors. At the same time, the cylinders necessarily correspond to their purpose (scope of application).

Remember that one spark is enough to ignite the accumulated gas in the house, which inevitably causes an explosion, and then a fire. Thoroughly ventilate the room, not just one gassed room, by opening all windows and doors. After that, leave the room and do not enter it until the smell of gas completely disappears. And if it does not disappear, immediately call the emergency service of the gas network by phone "104".
