Cooperation with the EAEU in the framework of economic integration

The EAEU Treaty was signed on May 29, 2014 by the Presidents of the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation.

The Eurasian Economic Union of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation became operational on January 1, 2015. The Republic of Armenia joined the EAEU on January 2, 2015, and the Kyrgyz Republic on August 12.

The EAEU is an international regional economic integration organization based on agreements reached by states within the framework of the Customs Union and the Single Economic Space.

The main goals of the EAEU are to create conditions for the stable development of the economies of the Union's member states in the interests of improving the living standards of their populations, striving to form a single market for goods, services, capital and labor resources within the Union, as well as comprehensive modernization, cooperation and increasing the competitiveness of national economies in a global economy.
The bodies of the EAEU are the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (heads of member States), the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council (heads of Government of the Member States), the Eurasian Economic Commission (Commission), as well as the EAEU Court.

The EAEU Treaty establishes a clear consensus mechanism for making strategically significant decisions at all levels, which excludes any possibility of domination by any state.
During the period of the EAEU's operation, Kazakhstan's mutual trade with the EAEU countries increased by 87.1% (from 16.3 to 30.5 billion US dollars), including exports increased by 115.7 (from 5.1 to 11 billion US dollars), imports – by 74.1% (from 11.2 to 19.5 billion US dollars).

The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and the EAEU countries in 2024 amounted to 30.5 billion US dollars, which is 2.3% higher than in the same period of the previous year (29.8 billion US dollars).
Thus, Kazakhstan's participation in the EAEU fully allows, while maintaining state sovereignty, to ensure closer and more coordinated economic cooperation and cooperation with partner countries.
