Last year, Kazakh exporters signed a contract for the supply of goods and services worth $ 262 million under the export acceleration program. This was facilitated by the operator of state export support "Gaztrade".
Among the participants of the program is the Kyzylorda company "Asyl Dan LTD", engaged in the production of rice products. According to the head of the company's sales department, Aknur Darkhan, it is difficult for domestic goods to enter the foreign market without state support. Therefore, companies whose work has been established also need the support of the state.
- - In 2013, we purchased a ready-made mini-meat processing plant that produces 25 tons of rice per day. Then we repaired it and started construction of a new plant for processing raw materials and producing ground rice. As a result, in 10 years we have increased production to 80 tons of rice per day. Now we continue to develop and improve. We export products under the Asyl Dan brand to foreign markets and contribute to the recognition of Kazakhstan abroad. We plan to open another plant and increase capacity," he says.
It is important that the goods that are exported are of good quality. Therefore, this company also pays special attention to the quality of products. "Our motto is "Quality first", and we take an individual approach to each client. The products are made from first-class biological raw materials, therefore they are environmentally friendly, their food safety is guaranteed. Also, high quality standards allow us to maintain modern high-tech equipment for processing rice seeds. At one stage, the raw material passes through an automatic lighting control system, which evaluates the final product by color, quality and maturity of rice grains. Every year, the grain of our rice is sent for examination to the Kazakh Academy of Nutrition for Genetically modified Organisms and confirms compliance with the Halal standard," says the representative of the company.
According to A. Darkhan, a steady trend of consumption of gluten-free products is being formed. In addition, the consumption of rice and rice products increases every year. This is understandable. Rice flour is sometimes used as a substitute for wheat flour with a high gluten content. In addition, rice products are neutral in taste and well stored. "We are closely monitoring the changes taking place in the market. Constant study of demand, expansion of the range of products, improvement of their quality and safety are considered a strategic task that ensures the competitiveness of products in the local market and beyond," he says.
Exporting goods to the foreign market itself creates problems for companies. Therefore, "Asyl Dan LTD" took part in the state program "export acceleration" last year.
- This is a program that helps domestic small and medium-sized businesses prepare for the release of products to the foreign market and start exporting goods and services. Thus, all the problems and difficulties of the original exporter are solved with the help of "QazTrade". The experts chose the most profitable direction for export and organized business meetings for us with representatives of leading foreign retail chains. Upon request, a separate export profile and catalog, as well as an export strategy and other documents have been developed. We also held several workshops on export topics. As a result of participation in the program, several export contracts were concluded with foreign retail companies. This is about 35 percent of the total. This is just the beginning," says Aknur Darkhan.
In the process of exporting products, commodity producers face various challenges.
- The main export market of our products is the Russian Federation, and we have chosen Azerbaijan as an additional market. "QazTrade" helped us to overcome the barrier known as "brand awareness", as well as to prepare the documents necessary for the export of the product. In the summer of 2022, the company was invited to Baku by the trade and economic mission of Kazakhstan in Azerbaijan. Commodity producers of Kazakhstan were represented at it. We held several meetings with representatives of retail chains in Baku. As a result, an export contract was concluded. Our products are expected to be delivered to Azerbaijan now. Assistance was also provided in the selection of Russian partners-buyers corresponding to our profile, and online meetings with them in B2B were organized. As a result, a contract was signed for the export of Kyzylorda rice to the Russian Federation, – says the head of the sales department.
A representative of a domestic company advised Kazakhstani manufacturers to take part in the export acceleration program. "As you know, applications from export-oriented companies are also being accepted this year. This program contributes to the disclosure of the export potential of small and medium-sized businesses, contributing to the expansion of business horizons. Business needs such effective support from the state," he says.
Since 2020, QazTrade has been implementing the Export acceleration program jointly with KPMG. To date, 326 domestic companies have participated in it: in 2020 – 35 companies, in 2021 – 101 companies, in 2022 - 190 companies. In January 2023, the acceptance of applications from participants ready to enter foreign markets began.
