"In many contracts, price revision is not provided for and, accordingly, additional agreements are not concluded in cases of price reduction. For example, in the West Kazakhstan region, in a contract with one of the sole proprietors, the cost of carrots was 200 tenge per kg. Today, the average price for carrots is 150 tenge, but the contract has not been revised" - Aidar Abildabekov
First Vice-Minister of Trade and Integration Arman Shakkaliev made a report on the seasonal purchase of onions, potatoes, carrots and cabbage. According to him, data on the need for vegetables during the off-season were received from local executive bodies and retail chains. However, these data require revision, since the formed aggregate volume of 20 thousand tons does not sufficiently meet the needs of the urban population during the off-season.
Arman Shakkaliyev presented a draft roadmap for the import of vegetables in the off-season of 2023. This map provides for the distribution of socially significant food imports by regions and retail chains, the timing and volume of financing of retail chains under revolving schemes through the akimats of the regions, so that the CU timely concluded contracts with suppliers for the import of vegetables.
In turn, the Ministry of Trade and Integration, through the Qaztrade Trade Policy Development Center, will assist in providing a green corridor for timely deliveries.
Regarding the situation with the financing of sugar factories, the First Vice Minister of Trade and Integration said that to date 4 regions - Akmola, Atyrau, Kostanay and Zhetu – have not allocated funds to sugar factories.
The Deputy Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Trade and Integration and the regions to work out all the issues with sugar factories and finance them before the next meeting on the stabilization of prices for social food products. All akimats were instructed to take special control and accelerate the work on signing contracts with retail chains under the "reverse scheme" of seasonal purchase of onions, potatoes, carrots and cabbage.
