Aktogay Mining and Processing Plant
Проект
The expansion project of the Aktogay GOK provides for the construction of an additional processing plant to double the volume of processing of raw materials from the already existing open-pit mine of the Aktogay copper Deposit. Aktogay is one of the largest copper ore deposits in the world, with a copper content of approximately five million tons. It is worth noting that copper plays an important role in all modern infrastructure, production and transmission of electricity, transport, communications, in the production of industrial equipment and electrical appliances. Therefore, increasing copper production is a very important issue.
The new plant is projected to produce about 80,000 tons of copper in concentrate from 2022 to 2027, supported by higher copper content in the ore. During the further life of the mine, the Aktogay expansion project will produce an additional 60 thousand tons per year, when the average copper content will be within the limits of the content in mineral resources – 0.34%.
After commissioning of Aktogay-II, the annual production of copper from sulfide ore will increase to 170 thousand tons in the period from 2022 to 2027 and 130 thousand tons in the future. The planned net cash cost until 2027 is maintained at 100-120 US cents per pound, which makes the project one of the lowest-cost projects in the industry.
