The development of economic diplomacy is one of the most important directions of Kazakhstan's foreign policy. Activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are aimed at coordination of international economic cooperation, assistance to the implementation of Kazakhstan's foreign trade initiatives, export promotion and attraction of foreign investments.
An important direction of the daily work of the Ministry is to carry out the Head of State and Head of Government's instructions regarding the implementation of the Five reforms and Hundred concrete steps. Special efforts of the Ministry are focused on the creation of favorable external conditions for the implementation of the new economic policy "Nyrly Zhol".
As part of the complex task of attracting investment to Kazakhstan and Kazakhstan export promotion, Ministry headed by Kazakhstan's foreign missionsplays an important role of the "first point of contact" and "link" with the foreign business community. Information materials about Kazakhstan are provided during activities of the Kazakhstan's foreign missions. Close attention to attracting TNCs in priority sectors of the economy is devoted, as well as the development of contacts with potential investors among SMEs. This work is conducted in accordance with the implementation ofthe State program of accelerated industrial and innovative development of the Republic of Kazakhstan and its second five-year plan, Program of investment attraction, development of special economic zones and export promotion in Kazakhstan andComprehensive plan to attract foreign direct investment.
Holding in Astana International specialized exhibition EXPO-2017 and an invitation the foreign participants is one of the priorities of the Ministry.
Given the growing potential of Kazakhstan's foreign policy and its regional responsibilities, the Ministry is actively engaged in the promotion of "soft power", the formation of the high-grade Kazakhstan mechanism ofofficial assistance provision to development and creation of the Kazakhstan Agency for International Development Assistance «KazAID».
Multilateral cooperation is an important component of economic diplomacy. It is cooperation with international organizations such as the OECD, WTO, World Bank, IMF, EBRD, ADB and ABII, as well as energy and transport organizations (Energy Charter, IEA, OPEC, TRACECA and etc.).
The Ministry plays an active role in the preparation and conduction of the Astana Economic Forum. This year the Ministry organized two sessions - "Kazakhstan'sOfficial Development Assistance system. The needs and challenges of today and tomorrow" and "Africa - the next driver of the global economy".
