Relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the
Republic of Singapore
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Singapore were established on March 30, 1993.
In November 2003, the Diplomatic Mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan was opened in Singapore, which was transformed into the Embassy on December 11, 2008.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Singapore is Mr. Askar Kuttykadam (since October 21, 2022).
Mr. Zulkifli bin Baharudin is the Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to the Republic of Kazakhstan with residence in Singapore (since May 28, 2014).
Political cooperation
The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev visit Republic of Singapore in May 1996 (official visit) and in November 2003 (state visit). Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew visit Kazakhstan in September 1991.
An important role for further deepening the political dialogue was played by the visits of the Heads of Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Singapore (October 2010, March 2015, November 2018), as well as the visits of the ex-Prime Minister of Singapore, Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong to Kazakhstan (September 2016).
On October 1, 2019 In Yerevan, at the site of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K. Tokayev met with the Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong.
On January 11, 2021 in Nur-Sultan the political consultations took place between the foreign ministries of Kazakhstan and Singapore in the videoconference format.
On September 21, 2021 the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tileuberdi held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore V.Balakrishnan, within the framework of the 76th session of the UN GA.
On August 14-17, 2022 an official visit of the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan M. Tleuberdi to the RS took place, in the frame of which were held meetings with the President H.Yakob, Vice Premier of Finance L.Wong, Minister V.Balakrishnan, Minister of Human Resources of Foreign Trade and Industry Tan Xi Leng.
On October 10-14, 2022 the visit of the Singaporean delegation headed by the Minister of the Office of the Prime Minister of the RS M. Osman to the Republic of Kazakhstan to participate in the 6th CICA Summit (Astana) took place.
Trade and economic cooperation
Bilateral trade turnover in 2022 amounted to 1,9 billion US dollars (+65.1%), of which exports of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the RS – 1,87 billion US dollars (+67.8%), imports from the RS to the Republic of Kazakhstan – 47,1 million dollars USA (+0.5%).

According to the Bureau of National Statistics of Kazakhstan, as of March, 2023 144 operating legal entities, branches and representative offices with the participation of Singaporean capital are registered in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Between 2010 and 2022 the inflow of FDI into the Republic of Kazakhstan from Singapore amounted to 1 billion US dollars.
For the 3rd quarter of 2022, the inflow of foreign investments into the Republic of Kazakhstan from the RS amounted to 310,7 million US dollars, outflow from the Republic of Kazakhstan - 11 million US dollars.
Cultural and humanitarian cooperation
Every year, about 100 Kazakhstani students receive education at the leading universities in Singapore.
Since 2012, a long-term Cooperation Agreement has been in effect between Nazarbayev University and Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. The School of Public Policy has the status of a strategic partner of Nazarbayev University.
In 2016, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Singapore Public Service College.
A major project in the field of education is creation of a branch of the «Management Development Institute of Singapore» (MDIS) in Kazakhstan together with the Eastern Kazakhstan technical University named by D.Serikbayev.
