Registration of loss of citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan

In accordance with Article 21 of the Law "On Citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan," a person who is a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan and has accepted the citizenship of a foreign state is obliged to report within thirty calendar days about the acquisition of a foreign citizenship and return the passport and identification card of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Department of Internal Affairs or a foreign mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for registration of the loss of the citizenship.

To register the loss of citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the following documents must be submitted to the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Ottawa:

1. Cover Letter.

2. Copy and original of the passport of a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In case of loss of the passport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, you must provide a letter from the police about the loss of the passport (Police Report).

3. Copy of the passport of a citizen of a foreign state or a document confirming the fact of foreign citizenship.

If the first and last name has been changed on a foreign passport, you must provide a copy of the supporting document (marriage certificate, certificate of change of name, etc.).

4. Copy of the decision to leave for another country for permanent residence or a document confirming permission to leave for another country for permanent residency (issued by the migration authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan).

If the applicant does not have permission to leave for permanent residence outside the Republic of Kazakhstan, in order to register the loss of citizenship, a citizen must contact the territorial migration service of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the last place of registration in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Given the current epidemiological situation in the world, the Embassy is ready to assist in redirecting your materials to the migration authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the last place of registration. To do this, you must submit the following documents to the Embassy:

1. Notification Letter;
2. Originals of documents proving the identity of a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan (passport, identity card, military card) (in case of loss of documents proving the identity of a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the notification must indicate when and under what circumstances these documents were lost);
3. A copy of the passport of a citizen of a foreign state or a document confirming the existence of foreign citizenship.

To obtain a certificate of the loss of citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan, it is necessary to submit the following documents to the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Ottawa:

1. Cover Letter.

2. Copy of the passport of a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

3. Consular fee - Money Order for 50 US dollars payable to the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Canada.
