The International Coordinating Council of UNESCO unanimously included the "Burabay" State National Natural Park in the World Network of Biosphere Reserves.

The new status will allow the park staff to participate in international decision-making on environmental issues, develop research work, and form a basis for training specialists.

The application was submitted in the fall of 2021, accompanied by the Kazakhstan National Committee of the UNESCO "Man and the Biosphere" Program. It includes a description of the terrain, climate, and biological diversity of the "Burabay" park. On June 15, 2022, the International Coordinating Council of UNESCO supported the application.

The State National Natural Park "Burabay" is included in the system of specially protected natural areas of republican significance and is under the jurisdiction of the Department of Presidential Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
