Among the main goals of Ministry of national economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan regional development policy making plays a significant role. This implies the development of proposals for the development of agglomerations and second-tier cities, small and single-industry towns, the development of rural and border areas, the analysis of regional development, as well as the identification of internal potentials, the monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of local executive bodies, and the development of proposals for shaping policies in the field of development of local self-government, ensuring the implementation of state policy in the development of inter-regional cooperation within the country.
