In the Mangystau region in 2022, 497 awareness-raising events were organized with the coverage of 30,472 people in order to prevent religious extremism. This was announced at a briefing at the Center for Public Communications by the head of the regional Department for Religious Affairs Maksatbek Makhanbetov.
According to the speaker, these measures were implemented in order to curb radical ideology. The head of the Department of Religious Affairs noted that the information and explanatory work is not limited to lectures and seminars, but is complemented by intellectual and cultural events.
- Over the past four years, the department in the region has been holding aitys of young akyns, poetry contests. This increases the dignity of national values among young people, forms a correct idea of the Zhyrau of the past centuries, poets and performers. In addition, as part of the outreach work in 2022, a podcast was prepared on seven topics, including: "Shetelde dini bilim alu kauipti", "Mektep formasyn aktau mindetti!", "Kazak zhastary zhane din", "Dasturli oner men dasturli dinnin sabaktastygy barma?", "Din zhane sport", "Zhastardyn dinge degen kozkarasy kandai?" and others," Maksatbek Makhanbetov said.
At a press conference, the speaker explained to residents that it is impossible to register on a social network for any religious group, upload information of religious significance to it, share or distribute it among others. So, in 2022, 15 offenses of religious significance were registered. Five of them distributed illegal religious books, nine people shared religiously significant information through social networks, one carried out illegal missionary activities. The identified citizens were brought to justice under the articles of administrative offenses.
During the briefing, the chief imam of the Beket Ata mosque, Anuar Yelzhanov, noted that during the month of Ramadan, live broadcasts of "surak-zhauap" will be organized on social networks, in which 600 people participated.

- In order to spiritually educate the population and introduce virtue in the month of Ramadan, Mangistau mosques distributed 1,500 boxes of sweets "Ramadan bazarlygy" to children. At the initiative of the Fund "Zeket zhane kayyrymdylyk" DUMK, within the framework of the republican campaign "30 kunde 30 baspana", the keys to the next housing were transferred to the cleaner of the Karakiyan central district mosque, single mother Abuova Aigul Onalbayevna. Mosques in our region distributed "Ramadan baskets" to about 80 people with disabilities - 140 families in total. 100 trees have been planted in the region. Every Sunday, a lecture on "Beware of an alien religious trend" is read in the regional mosque, and 3,280 people take part in auyzashar every day in the region," says Anuar Yelzhanov.
