The main functions of the Department are:

1) organization of work on the implementation of state and regional programs on water supply to the population of the region, carrying out scientific, technical and investment policy in the field of water infrastructure development. Implementation and implementation of tasks in the field of natural monopoly regarding the competence of management.

2) participates in the development of a system of regulatory documents in the field of functioning and development of water supply systems of cities and settlements.

3) develops and submits proposals in accordance with the established procedure to draft local regulatory legal acts on the functioning and development of water supply systems and settlements.

4) makes proposals on the organization of work on the functioning and development of water supply systems of cities and settlements.

5) control over the execution of the resolutions of the akimat, decisions, orders and instructions of the akim of the region in terms of issues related to the uninterrupted provision of consumers of the region with utilities.

6) develops standards for the consumption of utilities for water supply, sanitation for consumers who do not have metering devices;

7) implements measures to subsidize the cost of services for the supply of drinking water from particularly important group and local water supply systems that are non-alternative sources of drinking water supply according to the list approved by the authorized body;
