Migration of population
Since gaining independence, Kazakhstan has begun to implement its own migration policy that meets the trends of globalization of the world community and is aimed at using migration flows in the interests of strengthening national security, improving the demographic situation and sustainable socio-economic development of the country.
During the years of independence, migration flows were managed in accordance with the strategic directions of social transformation and specially developed concepts of migration policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In turn, taking into account the existing and expected internal and external challenges in the field of population migration, the Government adopted the Concept of Migration Policy for 2017-2021 (Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated September 29, 2017 No. 602).
The concept defines the strategic goals, objectives and directions of the migration policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in conjunction with the expected prospects for economic, social and demographic development, foreign policy, integration processes within the Eurasian Economic Union and global globalization trends.
