These include the planned construction of the "Karaozek" reservoir, designed with a water storage capacity of 775 million cubic meters. Joint efforts with the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation are currently in progress to secure funding for the reservoir's construction through the Islamic Development Bank (project cost: 3.8 billion tenge).
Additionally, five priority capital repair projects in the region, valued at 3.2 billion tenge, have been proposed for funding by the Islamic Development Bank. Work is currently proceeding on the "Bazar Arygy" canal (located in the Shieli settlement, Shieli District) and the "Kumzhargan" canal (located in the Sulutobe rural district). In connection with the development of the Kyzylorda City Master Plan and the need to amend the designated water protection zones and strips along the Syr Darya River, the Akimat of the Kyzylorda Region issued Resolution No. 72 on April 28, 2026. This resolution amends the earlier Resolution No. 201 (dated October 22, 2025) regarding the establishment of water protection zones and strips in the Kyzylorda Region and the regulations governing their economic use.
This year, 3,691.6 million tenge was allocated from the national budget for the project "Construction of the Kyzylzharma flume canal to improve the urban environment of Kyzylorda." To date, 80% of the work has been completed.

A working group was established to conduct an inventory of ownerless lakes and canals within the region. This effort identified 48 lakes and 82 canals, and corresponding instructions were issued to city and district akimats to formalize the documentation for these water bodies.
In accordance with the Head of State's directive, and drawing on international best practices for irrigation water conservation, design and cost estimate documentation has been prepared to secure World Bank funding for concreting 68 canals across the region. These projects, with a total estimated cost of 144.0 billion tenge, have been identified as economically viable for the irrigation of agricultural lands. Additionally, design and cost estimate documentation is being developed—funded by the regional budget at a cost of 16.8 million tenge—for three publicly owned canals (Baikadam, Yeshpan, and Zhappar).
Furthermore, design documentation is being prepared to establish water protection zones and strips for Lake Kamystybas, located in the Aral District of the Kyzylorda Region.
This year, the "Arna" Municipal State Institution fully completed routine cleaning operations on four canals with a total length of 12.2 km: "Bokebai" (Arandy Rural District, Kazaly District), "Zhapalak Zharma" (Iirkol Rural District, Karmakshy District), "Akzharma" (Akzharma Rural District, Syrdariya District), and "Zhideli Aryk" (Shagan Rural District, Syrdariya District).
