In order to meet the environmental and sanitary requirements of landfills in the region in 2015-2017, the decree of the regional akimat in 145 cities, districts, towns and rural districts allocated 422.27 hectares of land for "disposal of production and consumption waste". Currently, there are 145 landfills, 6 of which meet environmental requirements.
In addition, in order to bring landfills in the village of Terenozek in the Syrdarya region in 2017-2018, funds were allocated from the local budget, design and estimate documentation for the construction of a solid waste landfill was developed, and a positive state expert opinion was obtained (Terenozek village-218.140 million tenge).
Design and estimate documentation is being developed for the construction of a landfill for sorting solid waste in Zhalagash and Shieli districts (for reference: Shieli village-10.0 million tenge, Zhalagash village-5.0 million tenge).

156.9 million tenge was allocated from the regional budget for the construction of the Aralsk landfill (46.7 million tenge in 2019, 110.2 million tenge in 2020). The landfill capacity is 37.8 thousand tons per year. The land area of 6.2 hectares. Located at a distance of 4 km from the city of Aralsk. To date, 90% of construction work has been completed, 110.1 million tenge has been disbursed. Construction is expected to be completed in November this year.
Also, according to the PPP mechanism, work has been completed on the construction of a solid waste landfill, a waste sorting complex and external engineering networks in the city of Kyzylorda. The total cost of the project is 1.2 billion tenge. The new landfill is located 4 km from the village of Belkul, with an area of 20.0 hectares. Solid waste processing capacity is 60 t / year. 40 new jobs will be created. The landfill was put into operation.
For 9 months of 2020, 87.7 thousand tons of solid household waste were generated in the region, of which 15.7 thousand tons were processed. The share of processing is 17.9%.
In 2020, 11 illegal dumps were identified within a 50 km radius of the city of Kyzylorda (in the city of Kyzylorda-3, in the Syrdarya region-8). to date, local Executive bodies have cleared 11 illegal dumps.
