The Department of Internal State Audit for the Akmola Region has uncovered financial violations in the activities of the Regional Department of Physical Culture and Sports. The audit confirmed facts of unjustified spending of budget funds.
The audit revealed that the actual number of athletes traveling to competitions differed significantly from the figures in the official travel orders. According to the documents, full team rosters were sent to championships and cups, but in reality, the number of participants was half.
The audit compared travel orders with the final competition protocols. For example, for a trip to Almaty, out of eight declared participants, only four actually took part. And such cases were not isolated. Meanwhile, funds were written off in full based on the initial (inflated) headcount according to the advance reports.
The total amount of identified financial violations for three business trips amounted to 1,112.6 thousand tenge. These funds are subject to mandatory return to the state budget.
An order and an audit report have been sent to the department to rectify the violations and compensate for the damage. The specified amount has been reimbursed to the budget revenue.
