In Kostanay region, police prevented 2 thousand doses of synthetic drugs worth 40 million tenge on the black market

A 35-year-old man was detained on suspicion of storing and distributing synthetic drugs.

The operation, conducted with the participation of a service and search dog, ended on a country road in the village of Kyiv in Kostanay.

A large plastic package with 20 packages of a white powdery substance, each wrapped in green electrical tape, was found on the detainee.

During the search of the HYUNDAI TUCSON, 3 more such packages were found, containing 70 small packages with a similar substance. On the back seat there were another 35 packages and rolls of electrical tape of different colors.

In addition, during the search of the suspect's apartment, empty drug packaging, a plastic bag with powder, as well as electronic scales and measuring spoons were found in the bathroom.

The examination established that the seized powder was "mephedrone" with a total weight of about 1 kilogram, which is equivalent to almost 2,000 doses. The estimated cost of the drug on the black market is about 40 million tenge.

The police are conducting a pre-trial investigation into the fact of storing narcotic substances for the purpose of sale in especially large quantities.

The suspect was placed in a temporary detention facility. At the same time, the police are checking his involvement in committing similar crimes.

The man could face 10 to 15 years in prison.
